Dear Dr.Fauci: We see you. We're here to encourage you.

There is a smear campaign going on against Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Senior expert epidemiologist in the Center for Disease Control.  This unfair treatment of this well respected learned man proves what Solomon declared, “There is nothing new under the sun.”  The doctor is one in a long line of honorable people who over thousands of years have been vilified by jealous, spiteful people. Dr. Fauci’s knowledge of the  workings  of the high contagious Novel Corona Virus/COVID19 makes him a valuable source of information for the country. 

Millions of people trust what he says and want to follow his advice.  His detractors in the government privately express that he is making the president look bad because he refuses to endorse false and misleading information. Dr. Fauci  does not obfuscate the truth or affirm falsehoods. Therefore the new tactic from some White House officials is to try and destroy his reputation, discredit him and obliterate his opinions from the conversation concerning COVID19. 

Destroying a person’s reputation by top government officials is not new.  We can read the story of the Biblical Daniel  that took place thousands of years ago. Like me, I thought the story of  Daniel and the Lions’ Den was a one dimensional, and a one themed tale of bravery.  As a child I learned Daniel stood alone for his beliefs in God.  That fact is truth. Daniel’s story demonstrates God’s sovereignty and protection. However it also shows so much more. 

This story shows how office politics and jealousy can spiral out into a murderous plot to ruin and ultimately kill an ethical, outstanding, knowledgable official. The  people plotting to ruin Daniel’s reputation and to have him killed were top executives akin to members  in a modern day president’s cabinet.

The setting is in ancient Persia, today known as Iran. King Darius had an efficient governmental organization to rule his vast kingdom. The organizational chart showed just below the king  were three Executives of which Daniel was one.  Each of the three executives  supervised 40 of 120 satraps. A satrap was a provincial governor in the ancient Persian empire who wielded a great amount of power in their regions.  They collected taxes in the form of goods, services and money. The duty of the organization was to maximize producing revenue for the king. 

I imagine,  that these three top men had government transportation including , a gilded chariot with a driver. They had access to the best of everything including wines, foods, clothes, entertainment and housing. They had bevies of servants to take care of their every need. Elaborate gardens  surrounded their homes. If they were married their wives wore haute couture and precious jewels. Their wives were the arbiters of style, beauty and grace. If they had children they went to the best schools or were privately tutored by the top intellectuals of the day.  Their wives had servants who would fulfill their every requests.

 Sometime during his reign  King Darius had the three Executive’s  Books audited. Daniel’s unit,  compared to the other two executives showed,  exemplary returns for the king’s coffers.  The King was impressed by these findings. The king was in the process of making Daniel the Ruler over the whole kingdom. He would be supervising his former peers.  However from his colleagues there were no pats on the back or congratulatory messages. His former friends, the other two executives, may have been skimming money from the king’s revenues or cooking the books in some fashion. They knew that if Daniel were in charge he would put a stop to their shady practices.  In fact they may lose their positions. 

 You might think they would say we better get our books in order. No! They decided they were going to try to ruin Daniel’s reputation by discrediting him. They searched meticulously for some governmental regulation that Daniel broke. They called for a secret audit of his books. They may have thought surely no one could be this honest. However they could not find one penny missing or in the wrong accounting column or category. 

They looked to see what deadlines he may have missed for a report. It turned out every report was in on time and some even early.  He must have taken an unauthorized trip somewhere. Nothing. When they came for Daniel’s books they found nothing in which they could accuse him. They even got an illegal search warrant for his home. They couldn’t even turn up a government pen or paperclip in his house. 

 They even went further. They had private detectives sifting through his life with the proverbial fine tooth comb.  The detectives noticed something.  Daniel was punctilious about his spiritual life.  Their private investigator  observed  that Daniel prayed at certain times in the day in front of an open window in his home. He didn’t even use the government office for his personal prayers.  They surmised, if we are going to trip him up it will have to be something about his religion 

Just think 122  powerful men, executives, hatched and participated in a plan to kill Daniel.  These were not uneducated men. These were men in designer made robes, turbans and using governmental identification.These were the men who plotted and planned to have Daniel removed from office and killed. 

Today in 2020  we  are watching in real time governmental officials doing the same thing.  Instead of saying we have one of the best minds to help us deal with this virus, it’s become let’ s destroy him. Why? Dr. Fauci’s efficiency and knowledge exposes the mishandling of this crisis by this  administration. They can’t get  Dr. Fauci to  lie or go along with their misleading proclamations  or minimizing the dangers of this virus. He’s been unwavering in telling the public  of how this virus operates and the danger it presents. 

I am pretty certain that the government  investigators have gone back through his work to see if they can  find anything. They have most likely done what the ancients did  to Daniel. They’ve looked  into his personal life to see if there is any hint of scandal surrounding him. Finding none, they have gone back to mistakes he made in dealing with this virus. 

Science is always testing theories and making postulations on various topics. Does this mean  Dr. Fauci was lying? No!  It means that  like all the scientists he has to hypothesize and then test the theory.  He gave the best advice with the knowledge that was available at the time. This virus is a new virus never seen before. Therefore as new information and data came streaming in methods had to change and be updated. Even as I speak new treatments and methods are being implemented.   A number of those who  previously scoffed are beginning to heed  Dr. Fauci’s advice as they see a rapid spread of the virus in their communities.  

The campaign against Dr. Anthony Fauci is based on jealousy and a desire to protect an inept administration’s response to this deadly virus.  The polls show that more people trust Dr. Fauci than the present  administration. Again, instead of seeing Dr. Fauci as an ally and a strong team player, he is viewed as a threat.  Like Solomon said,  “There is nothing new under the sun.”  They may try to destroy Dr. Fauci’s reputation,  but they cannot destroy the truth of what this virus is doing.
